Make a
Difference

About 400k seafarers visit our Sydney ports annually and your support can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.

Ways you can support our work:

Please consider giving monthly as this helps us to plan ahead and invest in development to reach seafarers’ emerging needs.

If you prefer, transfer your donation to our Tax-deductible Welfare Fund (BSB 062 074 Account # 1000 8062).
Or mail us a Cheque made out to: “Mission to Seafarers Sydney”, or phone us. Donations over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia.

The Australian Council of the Mission to Seafarers Inc. is a registered charity and is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Type 1.

Our most crucial needs in Sydney currently are:

  • Boosting Psychological Support
Rates of depression and suicide are much higher amongst seafarers.

  • More Free Transport to and from Ports
A taxi from Port Botany to the city is about $A70 one way and there is no public transport. We cannot meet even half of the seafarers’ requests.

  • Increasing Crew Visits
Many more vessels are arriving daily than we can visit under current resourcing.

We would like to provide more services to help sustain more of our seafarer brothers and sisters.

Thank you for your support of our work

Together we can boost wellbeing, strengthen families and even save lives.

Other ways you can support us:

Join Our Team of Volunteers

Are you a bus driver, knitter, counsellor or digital communicator? We need you! Volunteers are essential to helping the Mission to Seafarers family reach out to the over 1.6 million seafarers working around the world. Volunteering for us is flexible – it doesn’t matter how much or how little time you have. Everything counts. No matter your age or background, there’s a place for you at the Mission. You can even volunteer from home.

Give Goods

Our Chaplains sometimes deliver free gift bags when they visit ships so if you or your company has anything that will bring a smile to a seafarers face, please contact us to see if it’s appropriate. Beanies, scarves, socks, snacks, chocolate, pens and toiletries are always welcome.

Advocate for Us

Does your company have a pre-tax Giving Scheme – please ask them to include us!

Each year we call on groups and Churches to Support Sea Sunday – first Sunday in July or the International Day of the Seafarer on June 24. Contact us for details.
