Seafarers joined about 250 Sydneysiders at the beautiful St Andrews Cathedral, Sydney CBD, to celebrate Sea Sunday, a global day of thanks and prayer for seafarers.

Maritime Blessing for New Fire Fighting Vessels
The Port of Authority of New South Wales CEO Phil Holliday invited MtS Sydney Principal Chaplain Rev Tay, assisted by Chaplain Retchie, to bless their two new fire fighting vessels during a traditional naming ceremony at Walsh Bay recently. The new vessels were named ‘Burra’ and ‘Girawaa’.

Adversaries Unite at MtS Annual Luncheon
Two men who were on opposite sides of possibly the Maritime industry’s most epic battle were united recently to call for more support for ‘forgotten seafarers’ at the Mission to Seafarers Sydney 2023 Annual Luncheon.
As he surveyed the diverse gathering of 177 people, guest speaker Paddy Crumlin, President of the International Transport Workers’ Federation and National Secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia said the event was a celebration of unity for the sake of seafarers.
